HOW CAN HCO BENEFIT YOU?

HCO is really just another resource at your disposal. Treat it as you would treat the school library, your advisor, or even your textbooks. Regardless of your personal involvement in the organization, the club is always actively pursuing new speakers, new volunteer opportunities and in general, more ways it can better serve you. HCO has the flexibility and resources to pull together almost any information that you desire to enrich your medical or health related pursuits.

IMPORTANT BENEFITS INCLUDE:

    The Volunteer Opportunities:
The dedicated HCO officers go out on a regular basis to provide contacts to hospitals and other volunteer opportunities, so you don't have to. HCO has such a strong connection to many organizations so that when you decide to volunteer and you mention the club, they know you're truly dedicated. This is especially beneficial to students who are not from the Riverside area.
    The Information:
HCO officers are a collective pool of a lot of information about stuff you probably want to know. We get our information from our speakers, our advisor, and our parents (the BIOMED Offices). Many new students really want to know more about applying to med-school and especially, the MCAT.
    The People:
Face it, school is...school. Between studying, mid-terms, reports, labs, and finals there isn't a lot of time to stop and catch your breath. Through HCO, you can meet students who share basically the same class schedule as you. This way, you might be able to form study groups, find out information you might of missed in class, or just meet a new friend. Those four years are just too tough to do it alone.
    Contacts and Experience:
Besides just meeting people, HCO can help by providing contacts. Our speakers are excellent resources into their respective fields. This can assist you when it comes time to look for research, internships, or letters of recommendation. Also, HCO provides you a chance to meet upperclassmen, people who have gone through what you're going through. They might be able to provide you with insight into what classes to take, or maybe even a sample mid-term!!!
AND FINALLY, THE REAL REASON...IT JUST FUN!
HCO is not just a club full of stiffs who stress over med school 24-7. (Though we may have a few) HCO is full of people just like you. Some of the stuff we do, like volunteer as a club, is fun as much as it is helpful. This is your chance to be a part of something that will positively impact other people as well as yourself.
